Obama won!
November 5th, 2008

Obama just won the election as expected. He’s set to become the next US president and the first minority president in US history. Frankly, before he became a leading candidate for the Democrats primary, I didn’t even know who he was. Unless you’re very into politics, who would know senators that are not from your own state? In any case, I’m not a big fan of Obama. At a time when the US is facing a major financial and economic crisis. The country and the world need a strong leadership that can take us out of this slump. I’m really not sure Obama has what it takes. He is too much of a politician. There were cases when he wavered from or even changed his position on something just to please the voters. I don’t appreciate that. Truth be told, character-wise I’ve always liked McCain more. Too bad in terms of my own political and social ideology I can never really support a Republican…
Anyway, Obama preached “change” and some people might feel the “freshness” that came with the fact that he hasn’t been in politics for a very long time. But don’t be fooled by that. He’s very much part of the political establishment in Washington. I highly doubt we can really see much “new” or “fresh” during his administration. Not to mention anyone would be hard pressed to do anything after the huge mess that idiot Bush has created.
I don’t know what to say really. I don’t feel particularly optimistic about the near future. Not even knowing Democrats took back the White House and the Congress (both Senate and House) do I feel that changes are indeed in front of us. Well, we’ll see… He hasn’t even taken office, yet. Let me give him the benefit of doubt for now.
